Clinics that have to see you, whatever you can pay
19,003 federally funded health centers across 59 states and territories. As a condition of that funding they must serve patients regardless of ability to pay, and charge on a sliding scale set by your income. Most do prenatal care, pediatrics and family medicine under one roof. No email, no account — this page asks you for nothing.
What “sliding scale” actually means
It is not automatically free. Charges scale with household income — often to a small flat fee, sometimes to nothing, sometimes not. Ask what the scale is when you ring, and what proof of income they need.
They cannot turn you away for being unable to pay. That is the condition of their federal funding, not a courtesy. It applies whether or not you have insurance, and regardless of immigration status.
Most take Medicaid and CHIP too. If your child is eligible and not enrolled, these centers will usually help you apply — that is part of what they are funded to do.
